As part of the 55th International Troia Festival organised by Çanakkale Municipality, our city will host many names, including world-famous artists, between 9 and 13 August. Events will be held at many points around the city.
The 55th International Troia Festival starts this year again with a full programme that appeals to all residents from 7 to 70. Many points of the city have been decorated with the festival’s visuals and programme details.
At the official opening ceremony to be held on Friday 10 August at the Troia Archaeological Site, the festival’s traditional Homeros Science, Culture and Arts Award will be presented to Prof. Dr. Haluk Şahin, as it has been every year since the festival began in 1963.
During the festival, our world-famous pianist Fazıl Say will present for the first time, on 9 August in the magical atmosphere of Çimenlik Castle, his “Troy Sonata”, which he prepared at the request of Çanakkale Municipality by putting Troia into music.
In addition, the first performance of the Troia Legend Opera, composed by the world-renowned artist Tevfik Akbaşlı, known especially for his operas Muhteşem Süleyman and Kösem Sultan, and staged under the direction of Aytaç Manizade, will take place on Sunday 12 August, again at Çimenlik Castle.
French artist Dany Brillant, Greek composer Eleni Karaindrou, who brings films and series to life with her music, Barcelona Gipsy Balkan Orchestra, Erol Evgin, Mehmet Erdem, Resul Dizdar, Rubato and Dina Ensemble are among this year’s festival guests.
Besides music, talks, exhibitions, theatre and sports events will be offered to residents as part of the 55th International Çanakkale Troia Festival. Many local and foreign guests are expected to follow the events.
In the festival’s 55th year, we look forward to welcoming all our residents to the colourful events…
