32nd Çanakkale Swimming Race

The traditional race we have held for 31 years in the blue waters and mythological setting of Çanakkale first started in 1986-87.

Inspired by an ancient story that took place in the Dardanelles, the race represents the reunion of Hero and Leander and is held every year on 30 August.

The race course is 3.5 nautical miles (6,482 metres) between Eceabat Beach on the European side and the Asian side. The time allowed for the race is 105 minutes.

Since it was first held, the race has grown and developed and become international. On 30 August 2018, the day we hold its 32nd edition, we will celebrate the 30 August Victory Day together.
